Privacy Policy

Oakline collects nothing. It has no account system, contacts no server of ours, and includes no analytics or advertising of any kind. What you enter stays on your iPhone, and goes nowhere else unless you choose to back it up to a cloud folder of your own.
Information Oakline collects
None. Oakline does not collect, transmit, sell, rent or share any personal information. The developer has no access to your accounts, balances, transactions or any other content you enter.
There is no sign-up, no login and no user profile. Oakline makes no network requests, so there is no mechanism by which your information could leave your device.
Information stored on your device
Everything you enter — accounts, transactions, payees, categories, budgets, scheduled items and any receipt images you capture — is stored in a private database inside the app on your iPhone. It is protected by your device passcode and iOS's own file protection, and it is removed if you delete the app.
Location
Oakline offers an optional feature that suggests a payee when you are somewhere you have recorded a purchase before. It is turned off until you enable it, and the app works fully without it.
If you do enable it:
- Location is read only while the app is open and only when you are entering a transaction. There is no background tracking.
- Approximate coordinates are stored on your device, attached to the payee, purely so the same place can be recognised next time.
- Location is never attached to a transaction, and is never transmitted anywhere.
- No map service, geocoder or place-lookup service is contacted. The suggestions come only from your own history.
- You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings, and turning the feature off in Oakline discards the stored places.
Camera
If you attach a receipt to a transaction, Oakline uses the camera to scan it. The resulting image is saved on your device alongside your data. It is not uploaded anywhere and is not analysed.
Face ID and Touch ID
If you turn on the optional lock, Oakline asks iOS to authenticate you. iOS reports only whether authentication succeeded — the app never receives or stores biometric data of any kind.
Backups you create
Oakline can write a backup of your data to a folder you choose. If you choose a folder inside iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive or a similar service, your backup is then stored and synchronised by that provider under their privacy policy and terms, not this one. Oakline neither controls nor can read those copies once written.
Your device's own iCloud Backup, if you have it enabled, may also include Oakline's data as part of backing up your iPhone. That is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Third parties
Oakline contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising, no analytics and no crash-reporting services. Nothing in the app reports to anyone.
Apple may provide the developer with aggregate, anonymous statistics about downloads and crashes as part of the App Store. That information comes from Apple, is not linked to individuals, and is not gathered by the app.
Children
Oakline is a general-purpose finance tool and is not directed at children. It collects no information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because no information is collected, there is nothing held about you to access, correct, export or delete. Your own data remains entirely under your control: you can export it as a full backup or as CSV at any time from within the app, and deleting the app removes it from your device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Material changes affecting how the app handles your information will also be noted in the app's release notes.
